Flamengo chief Bap vows court fight over Vasco SAF sale linked to Palmeiras president Leila

Flamengo president Luiz Eduardo Baptista, known as “Bap”, said he will take legal action if the proposed sale of 90% of Vasco da Gama’s football‑company (SAF) to Marcos Lamacchia proceeds. Bap argues the deal violates CBF regulations because Lamacchia is the stepson of Leila Pereira, president of Palmeiras, and that a relative cannot hold influence over two clubs.

Leila Pereira responded that she has no involvement in the transaction, that her mandate runs until December 2027, and warned she will also sue Bap for “false accusations”. Vasco president Pedrinho reiterated that Leila is not part of the negotiations and that the new investor will be announced soon, criticizing Bap’s focus on the matter.

The sale, valued at more than R$ 2 billion, is still under negotiation, with a Memorandum of Understanding pending. CBF article 86 restricts family members from controlling multiple clubs. Both Flamengo and Vasco have signaled readiness to defend their positions in court.
