Flamengo reaches Copa Libertadores semifinals after draw

Flamengo has secured a place in the Copa Libertadores semifinals following a 1-1 draw against Ecuador's Independiente del Valle at the Maracanã. Despite playing much of the second half with ten men after Jorginho was sent off, the Brazilian club advanced due to their 2-0 victory in the first leg held in Quito.

After falling behind to a goal by Reasco in the first half, Flamengo found an equalizer in the 38th minute of the second half. Arrascaeta capitalized on a mistake by goalkeeper Quintana to score the decisive goal. This marks Flamengo's eighth appearance in the tournament's semifinals, moving them ahead of Internacional in the ranking of Brazilian clubs with the most semifinal appearances.

Flamengo is scheduled to face Argentina's Estudiantes in the next round, who eliminated Corinthians. The first leg is expected to take place on October 13.
