Marcos Rojo cleared by CAS to play for Estudiantes against Flamengo

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has ruled in favor of Estudiantes de La Plata, clearing defender Marcos Rojo to participate in the second leg of the Copa Libertadores semifinal against Flamengo. The decision follows a dispute after Conmebol initially rejected Rojo's registration for the tournament.

Estudiantes secured the registration by utilizing a vacancy created by an injury to midfielder Gabriel Neves. While the Argentine Football Association (AFA) had authorized the move domestically, Conmebol had previously blocked his inclusion in the continental competition, preventing him from playing in the first leg, which ended in a 0-0 draw.

The decisive match is scheduled to take place this Thursday at the Maracanã stadium in Rio de Janeiro. Flamengo seeks to reach its fifth final in eight years if it advances, while Estudiantes aims to secure a spot in the championship match.
