Flamengo secures 16 points in 2026 Brasileirão derbies

Flamengo concluded its 2026 Brasileirão derby series with a 4 to 1 victory over Vasco da Gama on Thursday. This result brings the club to 16 points out of a possible 18 in matches against its main Rio de Janeiro rivals: Vasco, Fluminense, and Botafogo.

Throughout the season, Flamengo achieved five wins and one draw in these high-stakes matchups, representing an 88.9 percent success rate. The only setback occurred on May 3, when a 2 to 2 draw against Vasco prevented a perfect record. Other notable victories included 3 to 0 wins against Botafogo and a 2 to 1 win over Fluminense.

The recent win against Vasco, featuring two goals from Pedro and goals from Samuel Lino, moves Flamengo to 73 points in the league standings. The club currently holds a three-point lead over second-place Palmeiras with five rounds remaining in the tournament.
