Flamingo Breeding Milestones Achieved in Mexico and Chile

The Africam Safari wildlife park in Mexico celebrated the birth of its 500th Caribbean flamingo chick, a 97‑gram hatchling streamed live by park director Frank Carlos Camacho Wardle. The event highlights the success of the park's specialized breeding program involving veterinarians and biologists.

In Chile, the Atacama high‑Andean wetlands reported a strong reproductive season for flamingos. The National Forestry Corporation (CONAF) recorded 1,964 active nests and 975 fledgling flamingos capable of flight, with a total of more than 1,300 juveniles observed. This recovery follows a previous season in which over 1,500 eggs were abandoned due to adverse conditions, marking a significant turnaround for the region's key bird habitat.
