Flammes Carolo Basket officials detained in financial probe
Five high-ranking officials from the French women's basketball club Flammes Carolo Basket have been detained as part of a financial investigation. The operation, conducted by the Reims Judicial Police, resulted in the arrest of several key figures, including club president Yannick Yernaux, first-team coach Romuald Yernaux, and the club's physician.
The investigation, which has been handed over to the Charleville-Mézières prosecutor's office, is reportedly focused on suspicions of social security fraud. During the operation, police conducted searches, including one at the club's facilities.
While the detentions have caused significant disruption to the club's operations, authorities have noted that no players are involved in the case. The legal proceedings are ongoing, and the detentions do not constitute a formal indictment or proof of guilt.
