Flanders launches 1 million euro fund for agricultural innovation

Flemish Minister of Agriculture Jo Brouns has launched a new call for demonstration projects through the Agency for Agriculture and Sea Fisheries, allocating a total of 1 million euros to support the sector.

The initiative focuses on two primary themes: preventive healthcare in animal sectors and Integrated Pest Management (IPM). Non-profit organizations with expertise in sustainable practices can apply for grants of up to 100,000 euros per project.

Minister Brouns stated that these demonstration projects aim to lower the threshold for innovation and sustainability. By using practical demonstrations and peer-to-peer learning, the government hopes to reduce the operational and financial uncertainties often associated with transitioning to sustainable agricultural systems.
