Flanders updates home renovation subsidies for energy efficiency

Homeowners in Flanders are navigating updated subsidy structures for energy-efficient renovations. As of March 1, 2026, the Flemish government's 'Mijn VerbouwPremie' has undergone significant changes. Specifically, residents in income categories 1 and 2 are now only eligible for subsidies related to heat pumps or heat pump boilers; they no longer qualify for grants covering insulation, windows, or doors.

Subsidies remain available for residents in income categories 3 and 4. For these groups, grants can cover up to 50 percent of the invoice amount for category 4 and up to 35 percent for category 3. Income thresholds for 2026 define category 4 for single individuals as income up to 24,750 euros and for couples up to 37,110 euros, with additional allowances for dependents.

In addition to regional support, the municipality of Hove is offering a supplementary local renovation premium. This local grant provides an additional 10 percent of the invoice amount (including VAT) for eligible residents in income categories 3 and 4. Maximum amounts for the Hove premium include up to 1,150 euros for roof or attic insulation and high-efficiency glazing, 1,000 euros for exterior wall insulation, 300 euros for floor or cellar insulation, and 350 euros for heat pumps.
