Flare Networks launches six‑month XRPFi integration to bring up to 5 billion XRP into DeFi

Flare Networks announced the start of a six‑month integration phase aimed at expanding the XRPFi decentralized‑finance ecosystem. CEO Hugo Philian said the first technical upgrades will be deployed within weeks, adding programmable smart‑contract capabilities to the XRP Ledger, which traditionally only supports fast payments.

The plan targets moving as much as 5 billion XRP – roughly 5% of the total XRP supply – into Flare’s DeFi layer. Holders can convert XRP to FXRP at a 1:1 ratio and use the token in lending, staking, liquidity pools and other yield products. Current figures show about $200 million in XRP total value locked, more than 3.4 million FXRP DeFi transactions, and roughly 144 million FXRP already locked.

Flare also introduced “Smart Accounts” to simplify cross‑chain interactions and is developing Confidential Compute technology, which would let institutions keep sensitive transaction details private while still providing on‑chain verification.
