Flash flood in Reasi, India forces evacuations and damages homes

A cloudburst struck the Bathoi village in Mahore subdivision of Reasi district, Jammu & Kashmir, causing a sudden flash flood that sent water, mud and debris into residential areas. Around 40 residents were evacuated to safer locations and several houses were reported damaged, though no casualties were confirmed.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha spoke with the district administration, directing immediate relief and assistance for the affected families. Relief and assessment operations have been launched, and traffic near the Jamlan bridge was temporarily halted due to rising water levels.

The event follows four earlier cloudbursts in the Jammu region that affected Doda, Kishtwar and Poonch districts, leading to road blockades and property damage. In Kishtwar district, schools were closed for the day because of adverse weather conditions and safety concerns.
