US Southwest faces flash flood risk from heavy rains
The National Weather Service has issued flood watches for much of Arizona, southern Utah, southwestern Colorado, western New Mexico, and parts of southern Nevada. Heavy rains expected to continue through Monday pose a significant threat of flash flooding and small-stream river flooding to areas already saturated by recent weather systems.
In the Phoenix area, emergency crews performed multiple rescues from vehicles trapped in flooded streets on Friday evening. In Scottsdale, fire officials reported that vehicles were submerged in three to four feet of water. Additionally, in Henderson, Nevada, swift-water rescues were conducted after motorists became stuck in rising waters. In Bullhead City, Arizona, heavy rainfall resulted in debris on streets and the closure of local parks.
