Flashpoint receives patent for ransomware risk scoring model

Flashpoint has been granted U.S. Patent No. 12,705,360 for its Ransomware Risk scoring methodology. The patented model is designed to help vulnerability and exposure management teams prioritize security issues based on the likelihood of exploitation by ransomware-as-a-service (RaaS) groups.

Unlike traditional severity scores, this model uses threat intelligence to identify specific technical traits that make a vulnerability attractive to ransomware operators. This approach aims to address the growing challenge of patch backlogs and the 45% period-over-period increase in RaaS attacks reported in the first half of 2026.
