FlatOut 4: Total Insanity VR exits Early Access with version 1.0 update

FlatOut 4: Total Insanity VR has officially transitioned from Early Access to its full 1.0 release. Developed by Mutar in collaboration with Flat2VR Spark and Flat2VR Studios, the title launched on October 23, 2026, on SteamVR with a price of $29.99 USD.

The major update introduces several new features, including multiplayer functionality that allows spectators to join races by riding along inside another participant’s vehicle. The update also brings back classic physics and opponents from FlatOut 2, alongside the FlatOut 2 GT and two remastered tracks. To ensure continuous gameplay, AI-controlled competitors can fill empty grid positions if human drivers are unavailable.

Players can now customize vehicles using an in-game livery editor or an open-source desktop editor, with Steam Workshop integration allowing for the sharing of designs. Hardware support has also been expanded to include bHaptics integration, motion-rig telemetry, and additional steering wheel compatibility. Other technical improvements include updated stereo mirrors, first-person driver ejections, and performance optimizations.
