Flavia Royón leads Senate Mining and Energy Commission

Senator Flavia Royón has assumed the presidency of the Senate's Commission on Mining, Energy, and Fuels. The new leadership structure includes Flavio Fama as vice president and Pablo Cervi as secretary.

Royón, representing Salta, has stated that the energy agenda must be developed “from the provinces and for the provinces.” She emphasized the geopolitical importance of energy and highlighted Argentina's world-class lithium reserves, which are critical for the global energy transition.

The commission oversees legislative initiatives regarding hydrocarbons, electricity, and mining. Key issues include the modification of the Glacier Law, provincial autonomy in protected areas, and requests for reports on the implementation of the “Súper RIGI” industrial framework. In Salta, the mining sector has raised concerns regarding tax burdens, road infrastructure, and natural gas supplies.
