Flavien Prat wins Bill Shoemaker Award at Breeders' Cup

Flavien Prat has been named the recipient of the 22nd Bill Shoemaker Award as the outstanding jockey of the Breeders' Cup World Championships at Keeneland. Prat secured his second Shoemaker Award by winning three championship races: the Breeders' Cup Juvenile aboard Hughes, the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint on Ways and Means, and the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile with Further Ado.

Ryan Moore also recorded three victories during the event, winning the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf, and the Breeders' Cup Turf. However, Prat won the award via a tiebreaker based on a points system for second, third, and fourth-place finishes. Additionally, José Ortiz earned two wins during the weekend in the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf and the Breeders' Cup Distaff.
