Flavio Bolsonaro Labels President Lula as ‘Head of the PCC’

Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, son of former president Jair Bolsonaro, accused President Luiz Inácio Lula of acting like “the chief of the PCC” during a lunch event with the Group Voto in São Paulo. Bolsonaro criticised the federal government’s refusal to classify Brazil’s major crime syndicates, the PCC and the Red Command, as terrorist organizations, arguing that such a classification would aid efforts to combat parallel criminal power.

He linked the perceived rise in street violence to the current administration’s policies, called for tougher sentencing, and pledged to postpone the upcoming tax reform by at least a year. Bolsonaro also announced plans to privatise Brazil’s postal service while avoiding naming a candidate for the finance ministry. The remarks came amid broader political tension, with Lula responding to Bolsonaro’s recent trip to the United States.

The event was attended by about 180 women entrepreneurs, and Bolsonaro declined to comment on several other political issues, including the recent electoral poll that showed a decline in his own support.
