Flavio Bolsonaro nominated; AI video and Brazil‑Argentina diplomatic row

Argentine President Javier Milei attended the convention and delivered a thirty‑minute speech condemning President Lula and what he called “socialist threats.” Brazil’s foreign ministry responded by recalling its ambassador from Buenos Aires and summoning the Argentine envoy, creating a diplomatic crisis between the two nations.
Earlier in the week Brazil’s Itamaraty denied visas to two U.S. State Department officials who planned to travel to Brazil ahead of the October election. Flávio Bolsonaro also met with 42 foreign ambassadors, repeating false claims that Brazil’s electronic voting machines are linked to the Venezuelan company Smartmatic, a claim repeatedly rejected by the Superior Electoral Court.
