Fleetwood Mac documentary ‘The Chain’ set for Apple TV release
Apple Original Films has announced the first fully authorized documentary about the legendary rock band Fleetwood Mac, titled ‘Fleetwood Mac: The Chain’. Directed by five-time Academy Award nominee Frank Marshall, the film is scheduled to premiere globally on Apple TV on January 29, 2027.
The documentary coincides with the 50th anniversary of the band’s landmark album, ‘Rumours’. It features exclusive new interviews and never-before-seen footage, providing a retrospective look at the band’s five-decade career. The production includes perspectives from surviving members Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Stevie Nicks, and Lindsey Buckingham, as well as archival footage and interviews with the late Christine McVie.
Named after the iconic track from ‘Rumours’, the film explores the complex personal relationships, creative processes, and professional resilience that defined the group. Lindsey Buckingham has noted that the production process served as a “cyclical healing process” for the members following previous interpersonal tensions.
