Flemish Minister-President attends Fêtes de Wallonie

Flemish Minister-President Matthias Diependaele attended the Fêtes de Wallonie in Namur, where Flanders was the guest of honor for the 2026 edition. During his official speech, Diependaele, representing the N-VA party, emphasized a message of friendship and sympathy from the north of the country.

While identifying as a Flemish nationalist, Diependaele joked about his presence by stating, “I come in peace,” and praised Walloon conviviality. He addressed the regional challenges and opportunities in sectors such as biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and aerospace, urging Wallonia to have confidence in its own strengths and potential for future independence.
