Flensburg court sentences man for dog killing; gas leak hits Italian hotel

In Flensburg, Germany, a 38-year-old man has been sentenced to ten months in prison, suspended for a three-year probation period, for the killing of a dog named Buddy. The court found that the man strangled the poodle mix with a thin rope attached to a tree, describing the motive as the dog being a nuisance. As part of his sentence, the defendant must pay 3,000 euros to the Flensburg animal shelter.

In Peschiera del Garda, Italy, a suspected gas leak at the Nuova Barcaccia hotel led to a major emergency response and the evacuation of the building. Approximately 15 people, including German tourists, were taken to various hospitals after experiencing symptoms such as dizziness and loss of consciousness. Preliminary investigations suggest the potential involvement of R410 refrigerant used in air conditioning systems, though technical inspections are ongoing.
