Flevoland authorities maintain stance on high-voltage connection and harbor plans
Local authorities in Flevoland, including the province and several municipalities, have reaffirmed their advisory position regarding a new 380 kV high-voltage connection between Diemen, Lelystad, and Ens. While recognizing the necessity of expanding the electricity grid to meet future capacity needs, officials emphasize the need to minimize impacts on residents, nature, and the landscape.
Separately, the Flevoland Provincial Council has approved a multi-million euro investment for the construction of an offshore harbor at Urk, known as the Maritime Service Harbor Northern Flevoland. While coalition parties highlight economic growth and job creation, opposition members have raised concerns regarding the financial risks and a projected eighty-year payback period.
