Infrastructure projects cause traffic disruptions across the Netherlands

Various infrastructure projects and maintenance works are causing significant traffic disruptions across several regions in the Netherlands.

In Flevoland, work on the Gooimeerdijk-Oost and Eemmeerdijk (N704) has resumed and is expected to continue until October 8, 2026. This includes major maintenance and the construction of a new bicycle path, resulting in road closures and diversions for motorists and cyclists.

In Overijssel, the N337 is undergoing maintenance alongside dike reinforcement between Olst and Den Nul. This project includes a four-month closure of a parallel road, with access restricted to emergency services, residents, cyclists, and specific bus lines.

In the Bollenstreek region, the Lisserwegviaduct underpass on the A44 is reopening following an 11-month replacement project. However, new closures are scheduled for the Hoofdvaartviaduct underpasses and Amsterdam-bound exits, alongside upcoming changes to cycling routes near the Kaagbrug.

Additionally, Rijkswaterstaat has adjusted protocols for the Brug over de Noord to better manage traffic on the A15 during incidents in the Noordtunnel, allowing the bridge to remain open longer to mitigate congestion in Alblasserdam and Papendrecht.

In Woerden, the municipality is conducting a public consultation regarding the ‘Groenblauwe As’ project, which aims to integrate green spaces and water management into the city’s growing urban landscape.
