FlexGen and LG Energy Solution boost global battery storage market

U.S. battery‑storage integrator FlexGen announced the start of its European operations, opening offices and securing projects in the United Kingdom and the Nordics. Executive vice‑president Jason Abiecunas highlighted Europe’s “tremendously important” role for energy storage, citing strong growth potential in markets such as Spain, the UK, Germany and Eastern Europe. FlexGen’s software‑centric HybridOS platform will underpin its grid‑scale battery‑energy‑storage system (BESS) deployments across the continent.

South Korean battery maker LG Energy Solution reported a return to operating profit in the second quarter, driven by a surge in energy‑storage system (ESS) shipments. ESS revenue grew more than four‑fold year‑over‑year, accounting for about 20 % of total sales, with shipments rising in North America and Europe. The company expects more than 50 GWh of North‑American storage capacity by year‑end, while CFO Lee Chang‑sil noted the profit boost also reflects U.S. advanced‑manufacturing production credits.
