Flight attendants share insights on long-haul travel and crew operations

Flight attendants and crew instructors are sharing professional advice and operational details regarding long-distance air travel. To mitigate fatigue in economy class, experts recommend wearing loose, layered clothing and comfortable shoes, bringing personal pillows, and choosing overnight flights that facilitate easier sleep. Travelers are also advised to prepare offline entertainment and snacks in advance.

Regarding airline operations, crew instructors from LOT Polish Airlines have detailed how cabin crews manage long-haul flights, such as those on Boeing 787 Dreamliners. On flights lasting at least 10 hours, crews of approximately 10 people divide their time into shifts. This allows half of the team to rest while the others manage service, providing windows of rest lasting up to nearly three hours during an 11-hour journey.
