Flipkart expands quick-commerce footprint in India

India's e-commerce and quick-commerce sectors are experiencing rapid evolution and intense competition. The quick-commerce segment in India is projected to reach US$7–8 billion in FY25, contributing to a broader e-commerce market expected to hit US$145 billion in 2025 and US$345 billion by 2030.

Walmart-owned Flipkart is aggressively expanding its quick-commerce service, Flipkart Minutes, to compete with established leaders. Since its debut in August 2024, Flipkart Minutes has grown to delivering between 1.1 million and 1.2 million orders daily, significantly increasing from approximately 400,000 orders in November. This growth places it close to Swiggy’s Instamart, which handles roughly 1.4 million orders per day.

Despite Flipkart's rapid ascent, the market remains led by Blinkit, which processes between 3.4 million and 3.6 million daily orders, and Zepto, with approximately 2.4 million to 2.6 million daily orders. As the landscape shifts, industry focus is moving toward sustainable economic performance, emphasizing cash flow, customer retention, and margin stability over simple revenue growth.
