Flipkart expands quick commerce with 1,000 dark stores in India
Flipkart is rapidly expanding its quick commerce presence in India through its service, Flipkart Minutes, gaining significant ground against competitors like Amazon and Blinkit. According to reports from UBS and Financial Express, Flipkart Minutes has established a network of over 1,000 dark stores across approximately 130 cities.
In comparison, Amazon Now operates between 500 and 600 dark stores across only 11 cities. Flipkart also shows higher user engagement, activating 40% to 45% of its urban visitors for the Minutes service, whereas Amazon Now reaches less than 10% of its existing app user base.
While Blinkit remains the market leader with 2,443 dark stores, Flipkart is closing the gap in average order value. Excluding smartphones, Flipkart Minutes maintains an average order value between ₹500 and ₹530, closely trailing Blinkit’s ₹518. Flipkart’s established expertise in electronics and mobile phones further bolsters its performance in these high-value categories.
