Flipkart launches microdrama vertical to boost user engagement

Flipkart is expanding its content commerce strategy by integrating a microdrama vertical into its main e-commerce application. The feature, located within the ‘Play’ section under a dedicated ‘Drama’ vertical, aims to increase user engagement and time spent on the platform ahead of the Indian festive shopping season.

To populate this new segment, the Walmart-backed company has partnered with the Tencent-backed storytelling platform Pratilipi and media company Terribly Tiny Tales (TTT). The feed includes content from TTT and Double Tap Films, Pratilipi’s in-house studio. The platform is testing personalized sections such as ‘Today’s top pick for you’ and ‘Recommended Favourites’ to enhance the user experience.

This move follows Flipkart’s acquisition of the digital entertainment platform Pinkvilla. The company is leveraging these content capabilities to build a broader consumer ecosystem for its more than 500 million registered users, connecting entertainment consumption directly with commerce. This diversification follows previous expansions into quick commerce via Flipkart Minutes.
