Flipkart Minutes eyes doubling dark store footprint by 2027
Flipkart’s quick commerce division, Minutes, is undergoing significant expansion. According to a UBS report, the Walmart-owned entity could potentially double its dark store footprint to approximately 2,000 locations by mid-2027. This growth is contingent upon market performance and the development of necessary backend infrastructure and supporting hubs.
Marking two years since its launch, Flipkart Minutes has reported 4X year-on-year growth, expanding to nearly 1,200 micro-fulfilment centres across more than 150 cities. The platform has seen substantial traction in Tier 2+ markets and among Gen Z consumers, who represent the fastest-growing customer cohort with a 5X year-on-year increase.
Data indicates that while new stores average 800–1,000 orders daily, mature stores operating for five to six months can reach 1,200–1,500 daily orders. The expansion is increasingly driven by demand for diverse categories, including electronics, beauty, and premium personal care, moving beyond basic daily essentials.
