Félix Bolaños defends amnesty law and housing protests in Spain
Spanish Minister of Presidency Félix Bolaños has defended the amnesty law as a success that has normalized the political situation in Catalonia, stating that Carles Puigdemont is now able to return to Spain. Bolaños noted that the government has successfully passed 85% of votes in Congress and nearly 80 laws during this legislature.
Regarding the housing crisis, Bolaños described ongoing encampments across various Spanish cities as a 'just cause' for affordable housing. These protests, which have spread to cities like Vigo, Palma, and Barcelona, follow the rejection of housing decrees by the Congress after opposition from the Junts party. The defeat of these decrees has led President Pedro Sánchez to call for elections.
The housing movement has intensified, with calls for a general strike on November 11 as activists protest rising rents and evictions throughout Spain and the Catalan-speaking regions.
