Félix Mory leads Danish Golf Championship opening round

France’s Félix Mory has taken a one-shot lead at the Danish Golf Championship after shooting a course-record seven-under par 65. Mory recovered from consecutive bogeys on the back nine with a birdie-eagle combination on the 16th and 17th holes.

Australian Jack Buchanan sits within striking distance of the lead after carding a four-under 68, placing him three shots off the pace. Other notable performers in the opening round include Danish player Lucas Bjerregaard and South African Brandon Stone, who both sit one shot behind Mory.

In a unique turn of events, German professional Jonas Baumgartner joined the 144-player field on extremely short notice. After being the first reserve following Joakim Lagergren’s withdrawal and a subsequent injury to Richie Ramsay, Baumgartner received notification that he was teeing off in just 20 minutes. Despite the sudden transition, he completed the round with an even-par 72.
