Félix Tshisekedi demands ministerial discipline in DRC
During the 100th meeting of the Council of Ministers, President Félix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of the Congo issued directives to ensure government ministers strictly adhere to their assigned duties. The President emphasized that respecting official attributions is essential for institutional discipline and effective state functioning, warning that any failure to comply could result in sanctions.
Tshisekedi also addressed recurring conflicts between board chairpersons, directors general, and deputy directors within public enterprises. He instructed the government, specifically the Minister of Portfolio, to prevent these disputes and ensure clear roles and responsibilities are maintained according to governance rules.
Prime Minister Judith Suminwa Tuluka highlighted the implementation of the strategic partnership between the DRC and the United States. She announced a forthcoming meeting of the Task Force to monitor this agreement, focusing on American technical assistance, the development of the Lobito Corridor, and the selection of priority projects. Additionally, the Prime Minister discussed fiscal reforms, including the creation of a centralized tax authority, noting a twelve-month window to complete necessary legislative and institutional changes.
