Italy expands domestic air and bus connections to boost North‑South travel

Wizz Air will launch a direct low‑cost flight between Trieste and Naples on 14 December 2026, operating four weekly services (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) with fares starting at €19.99. The route, using Airbus A321neo aircraft, aims to link the Friuli‑Venezia Giulia and Campania regions, providing faster travel for tourism, business and family visits.

Meanwhile, FlixBus is strengthening its summer network in Calabria, adding daily links between Napoli Capodichino airport and 14 Calabrian towns, and increasing frequencies to destinations in Puglia, Basilicata and Sicily. The company will run up to five daily buses to Bari and introduce new connections to Brindisi, Lecce and Gallipoli, as well as enhanced services to coastal and inland towns such as Sibari, Cariati and Castrovillari. The expansion is presented as a way to improve resident mobility and support tourism, highlighting environmental benefits and new booking options via ChatGPT and Klarna.
