Fælledby appoints new director following construction scandals

Michael Byrgesen Hansen has been appointed as the new director of the Fælledby project in Copenhagen. Formerly a top executive at Heimstaden, Hansen succeeds Erling Thygesen, who stepped down earlier this year for private and health reasons.

The leadership change follows news that two buildings constructed by Scandi Byg must be demolished due to serious construction defects identified in an analysis by Sweco. The Fælledby project aims to create a new living urban area in Copenhagen with over 2,000 homes expected to be completed by 2032.

Additionally, changes are occurring within the Fælledby board. Henrik Steenstrup, who is also the CEO of AP Ejendomme, will be replaced as chairman by Ingvar Sejr Hansen, the development and sales director at By & Havn.
