Floß plans to develop Flossenbürger Straße vacancy by 2027

The vacant lot on Flossenbürger Straße in Floß, created following the demolition of the Witt-Girgl estate, is slated to be developed into parking spaces, a widened road, and a sidewalk. This project is currently planned for the 2027 fiscal year.

Mayor Robert Lindner and the municipal council have sought a final decision on the site, which has been a subject of local interest since a 2024 citizens' meeting. While some residents advocated for the construction of much-needed residential housing, the current plan favors parking infrastructure and improved pedestrian access toward the Schlossgarten.

Funding remains a primary obstacle. Negotiations with the government of the Upper Palatinate regarding public subsidies have been ongoing, with officials requiring specific planning documents before granting aid. Additionally, the municipality faces financial pressure due to over half a million euros in pre-financing for other construction projects.
