Float Design Studio Unveils Minimalist Chite Offices in Taichung

Float Design Studio’s new Chite Offices in Taichung were opened to showcase a minimalist design approach that emphasizes restraint and natural illumination. The renovation removed excess cabinetry and unnecessary partitions, reconnecting windows and daylight to restore spatial continuity. A central stair core now serves as the organizing element, around which workstations, reception, meeting areas and storage are arranged in a continuous circulation loop. Light is treated as an active spatial medium, with vertical light wells and expanded window openings allowing daylight to travel deep into the interior, guiding sightlines and shaping the atmosphere throughout the day.

The design follows a philosophy of subtraction, aiming to restore the original rhythm of the space rather than create openness for its own sake. Private offices and meeting rooms are placed in more secluded zones, while workspaces line the perimeter windows to preserve transparency and daylight penetration.
