Floating lodges on France’s Lac du Der offer electric houseboat stays

Fløtyll, a French company, has introduced floating lodges on Lac du Der, a 48‑km² lake straddling the Haute‑Marne and Marne departments in the Grand Est region. Designed by Antoine Bresson, the electric houseboats are equipped with solar panels and can be rented for a night or a week.

Guests receive a 45‑minute briefing that allows them to pilot the boat themselves, anchoring near the shore or sailing across the lake. The concept emphasizes “disconnection” from daily life and reconnecting with nature, offering open‑air views, sunset vistas and the chance to sleep on water without prior boating experience.
