Flock Safety CEO claims technology could have solved Nancy Guthrie disappearance

Garrett Langley, co-founder and CEO of Flock Safety, claims that the company’s license plate recognition technology could have solved the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie. Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of NBC’s Savannah Guthrie, has been missing for over six months from Pima County, Arizona.

Langley asserts that Flock’s AI-compatible cameras, which capture license plates and vehicle characteristics such as dents and marks, would have made a difference in the investigation. However, Flock Safety did not have a contract with Pima County at the time of the disappearance.

The company, which claims its technology assists in resolving approximately 20% of cases in deployed jurisdictions, is currently facing significant public backlash regarding privacy concerns. This scrutiny has led to protests at city council meetings and physical attacks on its equipment.
