Vietnam faces severe heatwaves, flooding, and landslides

Vietnam is experiencing widespread extreme weather, including severe heatwaves, heavy rainfall, and flooding. Northern and Central regions are facing intense heat, with temperatures in several areas exceeding 38°C.

In Nghệ An, heavy rains and rising water levels in the Nậm Nơn River have washed away a temporary bridge, isolating over 400 households in Mỹ Lý commune. Landslides have also blocked roads in Mường Típ. Similarly, in Quảng Trị, heavy rainfall has caused localized flooding and submerged several bridges and overflow dams, complicating transportation in mountainous areas.

In Lâm Đồng, heavy rain and strong winds caused a large tree to fall across Bảo Lộc Pass, leading to local traffic congestion, and triggered landslides on Con Ó Pass, where thousands of cubic meters of rock and soil blocked the roadway.

Simultaneously, the healthcare sector in Hà Nội reports a significant surge in dengue fever cases, with over 1,200 recorded instances—more than double the amount reported during the same period last year. Authorities are urging residents to implement mosquito control measures and hygiene practices to mitigate the outbreak.
