Flooding forces evacuations in Paso de los Libres, Argentina
The Uruguay River rose to 8.64 m in Paso de los Libres, surpassing the 8.50 m evacuation threshold. Seven families, totaling 29 people, were forced to leave their homes and were taken to municipal shelters. Civil Defense director Bruno Lovinson confirmed the evacuation and noted additional self‑evacuations in nearby Santo Tomé.
The Argentine Army has positioned three pavilions capable of housing up to 750 people if the situation worsens. Authorities continue to monitor river levels and have not ruled out further evacuations as the floodwaters rise.
