Floodwaters Inundate Three Villages in Aceh Barat, Indonesia

Heavy rain over two days caused the Meureubo River to overflow, flooding three villages in the Pante Ceureumen district of Aceh Barat, Indonesia. Water levels reached 20‑49 cm, submerging homes up to ankle and calf height.

BPBD Aceh Barat Acting Head Teuku Ronal Nehdiansyah said, “Banjir luapan ini terjadi akibat tingginya curah hujan sejak dua hari belakangan ini.” No residents have been evacuated yet, and authorities are monitoring river flow while urging people along the river basin to stay alert for sudden water rises. The agency will update figures on the affected area and households as the situation develops.
