Flor di Aloe club provides community for seniors in Dakota
Prime Minister Mike Eman visited the Dakota Neighborhood and Sports Center as part of the ‘Accion di Bario’ initiative to meet with members of the Flor di Aloe Club. The group, which has operated for approximately 10 years, currently consists of about 50 elderly members.
Stella Toppenberg, a representative of the group, explained that Flor di Aloe was established to combat social isolation by providing a space for seniors to socialize, dance, and participate in community activities. The initiative aims to help older adults break their daily routines and find a sense of community outside of their homes.
During the visit, Eman discussed the importance of community groups and the role they play in neighborhood development. Toppenberg also emphasized the necessity of continued financial support for organizations serving those over 60 to ensure these community-driven initiatives can sustain their activities.
