Florea and Elazzaoui Win Salomon Pitz Alpine Glacier Trail GTWS

The Salomon Pitz Alpine Glacier Trail in the Austrian Tyrol served as the fourth stop of the Golden Trail World Series. The 24.5‑kilometre race featured 1,618 metres of elevation gain and was run under challenging weather that forced organizers to move start times forward and reroute several long‑distance sections for safety.

Moroccan runner Elhousine Elazzaoui claimed victory in the men’s race, finishing in 2:08:44 and extending his lead in the overall GTWS standings. He was followed by Kenya’s Michael Saoli (2:10:56) and Patrick Kipngeno (2:13:09). Romanian Madalina Florea won the women’s race in 2:32:16, reinforcing her position at the top of the series leaderboard. Ruth Mwihaki Gitonga of Kenya took second place (2:36:36) and former champion Naomi Lang was third, just eleven seconds behind.

The event also hosted ultra‑ and marathon‑distance races, with notable performances across the field, but the headline results centred on Florea’s and Elazzaoui’s commanding wins, which solidified their leads in the season‑long series.
