Florence Ajimobi begins duties as Nigerian Ambassador to Austria

Dr. Florence Ajimobi has formally commenced her duties as Nigeria’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Austria and Permanent Representative to international organisations in Vienna. She presented her Letters of Credence to Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen, marking the start of her diplomatic mission.

In addition to her ambassadorial role, Ajimobi has been appointed as Nigeria’s Governor on the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors for the 2026–2028 term. This follows Nigeria’s election to the 35-member Board during the 70th Regular Session of the IAEA General Conference.

As Governor, Ajimobi will participate in policy deliberations regarding nuclear safety, security, safeguards, and the peaceful application of nuclear science. The appointment is expected to strengthen Nigeria’s engagement with the IAEA and support national development in sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, and food security.
