Florence council debates future of Montedomini public housing authority

The ruling majority in Florence's Palazzo Vecchio is divided over the future of the Montedomini public housing authority (ASP). One faction urges an overhaul of the ASP's regulations by October, while another, driven by the Avs‑Ecolò group, calls for a leadership change that targets Luigi Paccosi, current president of Casa Spa and former Montedomini official.

President Maurizio Frittelli announced he will not attend the upcoming board meeting. The majority reaffirmed strong support for Mayor Sara Funaro, with PD group leader Luca Milani stating, “Piena fiducia alla sindaca Sara Funaro.” Avs‑Ecolò also emphasized the need to recover vacant municipal houses and ensure they are leased only for social purposes, quoting spokesperson Vincenzo Pizzolo: “The objective is to prevent private misuse of the properties and to make them available for collective benefit.” The next weeks will see proposals on regulation changes, asset recovery, and discussions on the ASP’s leadership.
