Florence expands municipal summer camp services for 2026

Florence has expanded its municipal summer camp program for 2026 to support families. The service now includes a fifth session running between late August and early September to bridge the gap until schools reopen. Due to increased demand, four additional groups were activated, resulting in 2,760 children enrolled and a total of 4,593 participations across the five sessions.

The program has also seen an increase in the inclusion of children with disabilities, rising from 346 in 2025 to 394 in 2026. Facilities are distributed across all five city districts, utilizing various local schools to ensure widespread access. Benedetta Albanese, the Councilor for Education, noted that the initiative serves as an educational experience focused on socialization and growth rather than just a childcare service.
