Antonio Mancini sentenced to life imprisonment for wife's murder

The Court of Assize in Chieti has sentenced 70-year-old Antonio Mancini to life imprisonment for the murder of his wife, Cleria Mancini. The incident occurred on October 9, 2025, in Lettomanoppello, where the victim was shot twice while walking with a relative and a dog.

Following the shooting, Mancini reportedly went to a family-run bar, admitted to the killing, and threatened others. He subsequently fired shots at a friend's car and a church bell tower before being arrested by Carabinieri after a period of negotiation.

Legal experts and forensic reports confirmed Mancini possessed full mental capacity at the time of the crime. In addition to the life sentence, the court imposed two months of daytime isolation, permanent disqualification from public office, legal interdiction, and the forfeiture of parental responsibility. The court also ordered €250,000 in provisional damages to be paid to the civil parties.
