Florence Motor Speedway to cease operations after 2026 season

Florence Motor Speedway has announced that it will not host any races during the 2027 season, marking the end of operations for the historic South Carolina short track. Owner and promoter Steve Zacharias stated that after attempting to navigate increasing difficulties since taking over in 2020, the facility has exhausted all possible options to remain feasible.

The 0.4-mile paved oval has hosted races since 1982 and is located near Darlington Raceway. The track has been a venue for various series, including the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series and the CARS Tour. Notable figures such as Dale Earnhardt Jr. have supported the track, and it has hosted drivers like Josh Berry and Carson Kvapil.

The remaining scheduled events for the track include the 2X Monster Trucks, the South Carolina 250, and the 34th Annual South Carolina 400 in November. The management intends to focus on concluding the 2026 season on a high note.
