Florence Obinim sues Bishop Obinim over church remarks

Florence Obinim has filed a lawsuit at the High Court in Accra against her estranged husband, Bishop Daniel Obinim, accusing him of making libelous and slanderous remarks during a church service. The suit alleges that on October 11, 2026, at the International God’s Way Church (IGWC) Tema branch, the Bishop read portions of her private divorce petition aloud to the congregation.

The legal filing claims the Bishop questioned Florence’s mental state and social associations. Because IGWC services are broadcast on television and streamed online, Florence argues the comments were published to a mass audience, intending to damage her reputation as a gospel musician.

This legal action follows her initial divorce petition filed on October 7, 2026. Amid the ongoing dispute, Bishop Obinim has reportedly made blunt public comments regarding the separation, including claims that he initiated the divorce and dismissals of suggestions that he is emotionally devastated by the split.
