Florence police arrest two suspects in luxury watch robbery

Florence State Police have detained two foreign nationals suspected of an aggravated robbery targeting a British tourist in Piazza della Repubblica. The incident occurred in the historic center when the victim was approached by two men while entering a restaurant with his family.

Investigators report that one suspect blocked the victim's arm before violently snatching a luxury watch valued at approximately 20,000 euros from his wrist. A second suspect allegedly used pepper spray against the victim and bystanders to facilitate their escape.

Following an investigation involving public and private surveillance footage, police located the suspects at a central Florence bed and breakfast. Officers apprehended three men at the location, one of whom matched the physical description and clothing of the perpetrator captured on video.
