Florence Porcel details the personal cost of sexual violence allegations
Florence Porcel, whose 2021 complaint against former TF1 presenter Patrick Poivre d'Arvor sparked numerous allegations, has released a new book titled ‘Parler ou se taire. Ce qu'il en coûte de s'attaquer à des hommes puissants’.
In the book, Porcel details the personal and professional toll of her legal battle, describing it as a 'social death' and a 'professional suicide'. She reports losing 41% of her income and facing significant career setbacks following the public disclosure of her complaint. The work includes testimonies from 14 other individuals who have accused various public figures of misconduct.
Since Porcel's initial complaint, at least 45 women have come forward with allegations of sexual violence, harassment, or assault against Poivre d'Arvor. Porcel notes that the legal process in France lacks the financial settlement systems found in other jurisdictions, adding to the financial burden of the complainants.
